From a young age, I’ve been passionate about teaching. This passion has led me on a journey of discovery that has shaped nearly every initiative I have taken. While teaching children in rural villages, I came across many who couldn’t read the blackboard. Their parents lacked the knowledge and resources to support them. To bridge this gap, I created Drishti, bringing doctors and volunteers together to provide essential eye care for these children.
As I continued teaching, rising pollution caused many students’ attendance to drop. To ensure their learning didn’t suffer, I invented EcoBreathe, a low-cost air purifier designed specifically for rural classrooms.
My work drew me deeper into village communities, where I saw significant gaps in awareness and implementation of government schemes. In response, I founded Saral, an online leadership and governance training program for village leaders. To support these efforts, I established my social enterprise Taarini, which now serves as the umbrella for all my projects—and has grown to include initiatives that empower women with education and financial independence, ensuring fewer children are left behind.
At the heart of everything I do is my passion for teaching—whether it’s children, village leaders, or mothers. Along the way, I’ve tried to remove the barriers that stand between them and their progress. The journey has been challenging, with setbacks and frustrations, but I could never give up on my children I teach.
My dream is to return to India after my studies and build social institutions and enterprises that reduce educational inequality by empowering communities at the grassroots—the true heartbeat of our Country.
